From time-to-time social accounts may lose connection between the social network and your SND Dashboard. If an account is disconnected, you will see a red exclamation point next to the account name in your Dashboard. A number of factors contribute to this, almost all of which are due to changes made on your account(s) natively on Facebook, Instagram and/or X.
Note: Only SND Team Admins with native admin access can add, remove and reconnect social accounts.
To reconnect all of your Facebook Pages to your Dashboard, visit this link: https://dashboard.socialnewsdesk.com/account-settings/social-accounts?reattach
To manually reconnect any social account, visit Account Settings at the bottom left of your Dashboard. Then click on the 'Social Media Accounts' Tab.
Choose the social account you wish to reconnect and click the “reconnect account” icon on the right. If your account does not reconnect, be sure you are logged into the correct social media account in another browser tab and that you have native admin access to any Facebook pages.

Facebook Troubleshooting
Facebook accounts can disconnect due to administrative changes that have happened on the particular Facebook page, or even changes made in the profile of an admin/editor user. Adding/removing admins, business integration changes or even password changes by admin/editor users can cause a Facebook page to detach.
Additionally, every 90 days, Facebook refreshes the "access token" SND relies on to communicate back and forth with your page. This is a security protocol on Facebook's end and is in place to secure your accounts.
Instagram Troubleshooting
Instagram's API is very fickle. Because Instagram and Facebook are connected to one another, the marriage between your Instagram business account and Facebook Page have to be married in just the right way in order for Instagram publishing to work properly.
If you're receiving errors related to "application," "account" or "parent page", there is likely a disconnect somewhere in the line of necessary connections between your Instagram business account and Facebook Page. Here are some simple troubleshooting steps to get those two accounts married up again:
- SND Team Admins should go to "Account Settings" in the SND Dashboard, and navigate to the "Social Accounts" tab. Click the parent Facebook Page first (this is the Page your Instagram business account should be connected to), then click the “reconnect account” button to restore connection. Repeat this with your Instagram business account. Try posting again. If that doesn't work, move to #2.
- Go to "Page Settings" on your Facebook Page, select the "Instagram" menu item on the left and ensure you see your "business details" listed to the right for the proper account. If you see it there, and step #1 didn't work to reestablish the connection, contact support@socialnewsdesk.com for further assistance.
X Troubleshooting
It's very rare that X accounts will become detached. This is typically caused by an account suspension or a physical action that took place on the "Apps and Sessions" settings within X. X API outages can also cause accounts to disconnect.
